MyExpressCheckout SECURITY INFORMATION SECURE ACCESS B3 Corp. is committed to making sure that your MyExpressCheckout information is safe and secure. With the security infrastructure that is in place, we are confident that access to your MyExpressCheckout account is private and secure. All of the information contained in your MyExpressCheckout account is stored securely by B3 Corp., rather than with an online merchant. At no time during a transaction does the merchant have access to your credit card number. We let the merchant know whether or not the purchase was authorized. The merchant may request credit card information at a later date for dispute resolution purposes, if necessary. Online merchants that you shop with using MyExpressCheckout have access to your address information for shipping purposes only. The information is sent to the merchant during an online purchase transaction, but at no other time does the merchant have access to your address information stored in MyExpressCheckout. The only way to access your MyExpressCheckout account information is by using your MyExpressCheckout User ID and Password. You should not walk away from your computer while you are still logged on to your MyExpressCheckout account. For your protection, if you forget to log off, the system has a time out feature that will automatically log you off after 10 minutes of no activity. You play a role in security While B3 Corp. works to protect your information privacy, you also play a role in protecting your information. There are a number of steps you can take to ensure that your shopping experience on the Internet is safe and secure. Five ways to protect yourself
BROWSER SECURITY Encryption made less cryptic Encryption helps protect your private information so that it cannot be intercepted and read by a third party. All information within your MyExpressCheckout uses the SSL (Secure Socket Layer) protocol for transferring data. SSL is a cryptosystem that creates a secure environment for the information being transferred from your browser and MyExpressCheckout. At a high level, SSL uses public key cryptography to secure transmissions over the Internet. In practice, your browser will send a message via SSL to the MyExpressCheckout server. The MyExpressCheckout server responds by sending a certificate that contains its public key. Your browser authenticates the certificate (agrees that the server is in fact the MyExpressCheckout server), then generates a random session key which is used to encrypt data traveling between your browser and the MyExpressCheckout server. This session key is encrypted and sent back to the MyExpressCheckout server, which is then decrypted and the session key is used for the remainder of the communication. Heres how SSL protects your data:
Keeping the Internet safe B3 Corp. reviews and approves the use of different browsers to ensure that they meet strict security standards. While your MyExpressCheckout account can be accessed with any browser, we recommend using Internet Explorer 3.0 or Netscape 3.0 or higher. When you visit a site that requires encryption, your browser will display a key or a lock. If you are not in a secure area, the key or lock will be broken. To learn more about browser security, visit www.netscape.com or www.microsoft.com. |
